Shepherdess Gina L. Thurston

Who comes to mind when you mesh stimulating “vocability” with soulful richness? Answer:  “Gina Thurston”.  This beautiful Kansas native was no doubt one of the music industry’s best-kept secrets and vocal sensations waiting to happen, until 1994.  The secret was out.   Discovered by Mr. Michael Houston of Tyscot records, heaven released unto us another angel in the person of Mrs. Gina Thurston.  She effortlessly delivers with elegance and an awe-inspiring fervor.

Gina began singing at the tender age of three.  While growing up, Gina was never afraid to sing at anytime or place and was always able to draw a crowd and leave them with their mouths agape.

She really looked forward to “Talent Night” at the home of her late grandfather, Robert Love (Deceased Artist of Mirada Records). The entire family, (13 children & 8 grandchildren) would gather around in the living room to showcase their talents.

When it came time for Gina to perform, she would put on a wig and high heel shoes, and sing her little heart out.  The family knew then that the apple wouldn’t fall far from the tree, and that Gina was destined for vocal greatness.

At the age of 9, her family relocated from Wichita, Kansas to Summit, Illinois (Argo), next door to a church.  One afternoon while outdoors singing to the neighborhood children, Mrs. Gladys Fizer, the children’s choir director, heard Gina’s lovely voice and encouraged her to join the choir and come to Sunday school.  Gina did so.  Even though Gina was very young, her voice was so mature that she was recruited to sing with the adult choir on lead at times.  It was at church where she honed her skills and won the hearts and ears of the young and old.  Her popularity began to proliferate so rapidly that, she was invited to sing with the hottest group in the area, “The Argo ensemble”.  As time progressed, her gift began to take her from just another local to one of the finest gospel vocalists in the United States.  In 1985, while singing for a church program, she met a young man (Mike Thurston); they became the best of friends, fell in love and were married on August 19th, of 1989.

In August of 1994, music lovers worldwide were introduced to Gina’s phenomenal, soul-tingling voice with her debut release, “God’s Been Good” on Tyscot Records.  That release, here sophomore release (“Gina-Live”-1998 MAG Productions Inc.) and her third project, (“Christmas with Gina”- 2000 MAG Productions Inc.) have all gained momentum and positive attention in the industry and appreciative audiences worldwide.

Every time Gina opens her mouth, she is spiritually uplifting and inspiring as she uses her God-given abilities to demonstrate her incredible vocal range.  Her “prissy” vibe and genuinely warm and energetic stage presence always leaves the audience wanting more.  Gina has been blessed with the gift to captivate her listeners by combining strong, “in-your-face” lyrics and improvisation, dynamic vocal technique, and sincere heart and love for the craft.  She has been favored to share stages with artist such as Edwin and the Late Bishop Walter Hawkins, Fred Hammond, The Clark Sisters, Rev. Clay Evans, The Lenox Family, Vicki Winans, Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, John P. Kee, MC Hammer, Angelo & Veronica, Beverly Crawford, Rance Allen, Hezekiah Walker, New Direction, Mark Hubbard and the United Voices For Christ, Jason Shepherd & Another Level, and that’s just to name a few.  She is currently ministering in numerous multi-denominational, cross culture and diverse audiences across the United States, Europe and West Indies.  You ain’t seen nothin' yet; stay tuned for album #4.  This next project promises to be another triple treat: Anointed music, food for the soul and some of heaven’s finest ear-candy. You don’t want to miss it!  Look for it!  Coming soon!
